Day 6 - Broome to DarwinInitially we had plans to head to Emma Gorge for sunrise, however after asking a fellow camper we realized sunrise was (5:30 am ), we decided that it wasn't worth it With myself behind the wheel, we started off our morning on our way to Emma Gorge. Like most of El Questro park, we had several rocks to climb up, down, around and over. Thankfully, we started in the morning before the heat wave hit us. About a 30-45 minute walk to Emma Gorge, it was nice to have a well deserved swim. From pictures and others Emma Gorge was supposed to be one of the best gorges, however with that said I wouldn't label it as one of my favourites, I far preferred El Questro or Bell Gorge. After Emma Gorge, we were on the road again to Lake Argyle. Why? Well someone told us it was a must see, however I have to say unless you are an older tourist going on a boat cruise, this lake can be skipped. We drove up to Lake Argyle Paradise Resort with hopes to see the lake and gather some information from the "Visitor Centre." There is no visitor centre, rather they want you to pay to use their infinity pool. Now it's extremely easy to slip into the infinity pool and act like you've paid, but honestly it wasn't even that nice of a pool. They even wanted us to pay just to be there, so we sat on a bench saw the lake and decided it's best to drive down. Granted it was a nice view as we drove down and over the dam but definitely not worth the drive out there. We drove as far as possible along the road until we came to a park. As we woke up quite early to see Emma Gorge, I was in need of a nap. Pulling out our pillows and laying in the shade we rested for a couple of hours. Of course, as the boys can't go on in life without watching their football, we headed back into Kununurra so they could watch Manchester United lose or tie, actually I don't remember since I wasn't paying attention. By the time the game was done it was around 9:30-10ish, and considering it was the first time we were driving at night, I drove below the speed limit as I didn't want to hit a wandering cow or kangaroo. We stopped at Cockburn Rest Area to sleep for the night before heading down the Great Northern Highway to the Bungle Bungles the next day. Total Cost = $29.00
