Happy Valentine's Day
Everyone says love hurts, but that is not true. Loneliness hurts. Rejection hurts. Losing someone hurts. Envy hurts. Everyone gets these things confused with love, but in reality love is the only thing in this world that covers up all pain and makes someone feel wonderful again. Love is the only thing in this world that does not hurt. - Liam Neeson
The least hungover from the previous night, I was raring to go to what we were told was the largest free festival in Australia. At around 2 pm with Callum, Matthew and Hayden by my side we headed toward the tram. Mentioning to the boys that we should get alcohol before leaving, fell on deaf ears as they were more preoccupied with their stomachs. And so began our journey to find cheap alcohol at the St Kilda Festival...
Climbing onto the packed tram, and following everyone else's lead we didn't tap onto the tram. I'm not sure if the tram was free or not, but I typically just follow the lead of the locals, so I didn't pay. The search for food began, with hungover Callum and Matthew deciding on a burger place. Having already had a bite before leaving, I was more on a mission to find alcohol, as I specifically saved myself for the festival. Walking down the road, we noticed that the festival was an alcohol free zone, much to my dismay!
So our next plan was to purchase alcohol from the grocery store down the road, however due to the festival they were not selling alcohol. Okay, now with the disappointment of not finding cheap alcohol, we decided to sit in on a singer at the main stage. I have no idea who he was, but it seemed a lot of Australians knew the words to his terrible rapping? - I'm not even sure he was rapping. Anyways, shortly after sitting down we decided to leave to find alcohol again.
Finally, we came across Bottle-O's, which were selling beer cans for $5 each and you could only buy two at a time and drink within the designated area. Hayden, Matthew, Callum and I found our spot on the ground outside of Bottle-O's and proceeded to drink our beers. Now, I being a girl and all, it's easy to work your way to the front of the line since no one says anything to you. So I became the official beer getter, and they didn't even ID! Eventually, the rest of the Goon Tribe showed up - Carla, Fraser, Danielle, Bren, Karen, Adam, and Ally. Sitting outside of Bottle-O's, I soon became a little tipsy.
Now back home, my best friends Olivia and Chris never have made me feel like a third wheel when hanging and living with them. I liked to think that I was part of their relationship. Being Valentine's Day and all, I told Danielle & Bren as well as Karen & Adam the story and now I wanted to be a part of their relationship. (Still waiting on gifts from Bren and Adam!) It was the first Valentine's Day I spent as a fifth wheel!
Deciding to venture out to listen to some of the music, we loaded up our purses and pockets with beer and made our way to the main stage. Stopping along the way to sign some hearts and climb a tree, as well as to eat some fries. Hayden James the headliner for the festival was the last to play, and was pretty good but ended at like 10 pm.
Piling onto the free tram back, we made our way to Dominos for some $5 pizza. It was a great night spent out, and a Valentine's Day to remember ;)
Total Cost = $41.95 AUD
